03/08/2024 (JKNN) In a monumental achievement for Bangladesh cricket, Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim guided their team to a historic six-wicket victory over Pakistan in Rawalpindi, completing a 2-0 series whitewash. This victory marks Bangladesh’s first-ever Test series win in Pakistan, following their maiden Test match triumph in the country.Pakistan started strong on Day 5 by claiming two early wickets, but Bangladesh’s captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mominul Haque’s resilient partnership thwarted their efforts. By lunch, Bangladesh needed just 63 more runs to win, and despite Pakistan taking two more wickets in the second session, the experienced duo of Mushfiqur and Shakib calmly led Bangladesh to victory.Earlier, Hasan Mahmud and Nahid Rana spearheaded Bangladesh’s attack, sharing nine wickets and bundling out Pakistan for 172 in their second innings. Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam then set the tone for the chase, racing to 42 without loss before bad light interrupted play.This series win is a significant milestone for Bangladesh, who have previously won only two away Test series, against the West Indies in 2009 and Zimbabwe in 2021.
