Army on High Alert After Foiling Infiltration in Keran Sector, Kupwara
Infiltration Bid Foiled Along LoC in Keran Sector, Operation Underway
Kupwara, Nov 8, KNT: Indian Army on Friday night foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Keran sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
Defence sources said that suspicious movement was noticed by troops of 21 Grenadiers near the forward defended location (FDL) Pimple. The soldiers immediately opened fire after observing movement close to the LoC, leading to a brief exchange of small arms fire.
Following the encounter, a massive search and sanitization operation was launched in the area to ensure no infiltrator managed to cross over. The operation is underway with additional reinforcement deployed to plug all possible escape routes.
Officials said the timely action by the Army prevented a possible infiltration attempt from across the border, adding that the troops remain vigilant to foil any such bid along the frontier in Kupwara.[KNT]
