AAY Families Asked to Enrol for 200 Units Free Power Scheme in Udhampur District
Udhampur, April 10, KNT: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has initiated the enrolment process for a proposed scheme offering 200 units of free electricity per month to eligible households, with the Deputy Commissioner Udhampur issuing a circular directing officials to facilitate registrations.
According to the circular issued by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, the scheme is aimed at households covered under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) category, which includes economically weaker sections.
The document states that all AAY households have been asked to approach their respective Electric Sub-Divisions along with updated ration cards for enrolment under the proposed scheme.
The circular further directs the Assistant Director, FCS&CA, Udhampur to extend necessary assistance and coordinate with the Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL) to ensure smooth enrolment of eligible beneficiaries.
In addition, Assistant Executive Engineers (AEEs) of concerned sub-divisions have been tasked with overseeing the process and ensuring that the details of eligible households are collected and processed in a timely manner.
Officials have also been instructed to ensure wide publicity of the scheme and to complete the enrolment process within stipulated timelines.
The move is part of efforts to extend targeted relief to economically weaker households through subsidized or free electricity support. [KNT]
