IGP Kashmir Holds Joint Meeting to Strengthen Security Measures at PCR Kashmir

Srinagar, Feb 18 (KS) : Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, V K Birdi, convened a high-level meeting today at PCR Kashmir.

As per news agency Kashmir Scroll the meeting, attended by senior officers from various security agencies including police, Army, BSF, CRPF, SSB, CISF, as well as state and Central intelligence agencies, aimed to comprehensively review and enhance security arrangements in preparation for the visit of VVIPs to the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir, along with other upcoming events.

The meeting saw the participation of IG CRPF (SOS) Srinagar, IG BSF Ftr, DD IB Kmr, DIsG of CKR, SSB, BSF, Armed, IRP, CRPF, ITBP, SSsP Srinagar, PCR Kashmir, CID CIK, Traffic, Security & PC & Telecom, DC SB Sgr, and CSO (1) 15 corps. Those who joined virtually were DIsG NKR, SKR Baramulla, CRPF Bla & South, and all SSsP/SP’s of Districts and PDs.

During the meeting, participating officers provided a comprehensive briefing on the security plans formulated in anticipation of the upcoming events. Recognizing the need to maintain a delicate balance between security requirements and the smooth conduct of events, IGP Kashmir directed officers to ensure heightened vigilance, especially during night-hours, in order to mitigate the risk of terrorist threats.

Emphasis was placed on the imperative to enhance intelligence gathering and anti-terror operations. IGP Kashmir urged officers to strengthen security at vulnerable points, particularly during significant events, to minimize the risk of untoward incidents. Special attention was given to enhancing security along the National Highway, tunnels, minority pickets, and other critical areas.

Furthermore, specific directives were issued to intensify security measures, including surprise naka operations, in both uptown and downtown areas of Srinagar. This includes 24×7 patrolling and increased presence at entry and exit points within the district. The IGP also emphasized the importance of briefing personnel to adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs), given the increased security concerns during events.

Additionally, IGP Kashmir Zone stressed the critical need for thorough monitoring of vulnerable areas and prompt action against suspicious activities. Special instructions were given to border district heads to maintain strict vigilance along the Line of Control (LoC) and hinterland in order to prevent potential terrorist activities. (KS)
