NC leader Imran Shah Holds Preparatory Meeting in Anantnag for Begum Akbar Jehan Abdullah’s Death Anniversary, Discusses July 13 Martyrs’ Day Observance
Anantnag, July 05: Ahead of the death anniversary of Begum Akbar Jehan Abdullah (Madre Meharban), which will be observed on July 11 at Naseem Bagh, Hazratbal, Srinagar, the Central Anantnag unit of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) today held a preparatory meeting at Housing Colony, Khanabal. The meeting was presided over by senior NC leader and Vice District President Anantnag, Imran Amin Shah.
The meeting was attended by a large number of party workers, Block Presidents, Halqa Presidents, and other party functionaries from across the district.
Recalling the immense contributions of Madre Meharban, Imran Amin Shah described Begum Akbar Jehan Abdullah as a towering and respected personality of Jammu and Kashmir who stood steadfastly beside Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah during the most challenging phases of his political journey. He said her unwavering commitment to social justice, welfare of the underprivileged, promotion of female education, and empowerment of marginalized sections of society earned her admiration and respect across the region.
Imran Shah stated that Begum Abdullah remained a symbol of courage, compassion, and resilience, and played a significant role in supporting the vision and mission of Sher-e-Kashmir. He prayed for eternal peace to her soul and urged party workers to participate in large numbers in the commemorative function scheduled to be held at Naseem Bagh on July 11.
The meeting also reviewed preparations for the observance of July 13 Martyrs’ Day. Party leaders and workers discussed arrangements for organizing tribute meetings across different areas of Anantnag district to honour the sacrifices of the martyrs. It was decided that party cadres would ensure wide participation in the commemorative programmes and observe the day with due solemnity, dignity, and respect.
The participants reaffirmed their commitment to the ideals and principles upheld by the National Conference and pledged to continue working for the welfare and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
