NC leader Imran Shah Reviews Kharman Toru Lift Irrigation Plant
Anantnag, June 17: Senior National Conference leader and Vice President Anantnag, Imran Amin Shah today visited various areas of Teelwani and Toru, he reviewed the functioning and condition of the Kharman Toru Lift Irrigation Plant.
During the visit, he interacted with local public delegations, farmers, and orchard owners to assess the challenges being faced on the ground. The orchardists highlighted several irrigation-related issues, particularly the inadequate and irregular water supply to orchards, which they said has adversely affected horticultural activities in the area.
Imran Shah patiently heard the grievances and concerns raised by the delegations and assured them that the matter would be taken up with the concerned authorities on priority. He emphasized the need to make the Kharman Toru Lift Irrigation Plant fully operational and to ensure the availability of adequate irrigation facilities for farmers and orchardists.
Speaking on the occasion, Shah stated that agriculture and horticulture form the backbone of the region’s economy and provide livelihood to thousands of families. He stressed that addressing the genuine concerns of farmers and orchard owners in a timely manner is essential for safeguarding their interests and strengthening the rural economy.
Imran Shah further urged the concerned department to take immediate and effective measures to improve the irrigation infrastructure, restore efficient water supply, and resolve the issues being faced by the local farming community at the earliest.
