Srinagar, Mar 09: Educational institutions across the Kashmir Valley reopened on Monday, bringing life back to school campuses after more than three months of winter vacation. Students were seen returning to classrooms with enthusiasm as academic activities resumed across the region.

According to details available with JKNN,primary and elementary level classes were earlier scheduled to reopen on March 2. However, authorities postponed the reopening after the government ordered the temporary closure of all educational institutions across Kashmir as a precautionary measure following protests that erupted after the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
In view of the prevailing situation and tensions in the Middle East, higher secondary schools, colleges, and universities also remained closed for a brief period.

Earlier, Education Minister Sakina Itoo stated that the decision to reopen schools and colleges was taken after carefully assessing the ground situation. She had announced that all educational institutions would resume functioning from Monday, March 9, 2026.
With schools finally reopening today, thousands of students across the Valley have returned to their classrooms, marking the beginning of a fresh academic phase after an extended winter break.
