CM Omar Abdullah Appeals for Calm Amid Developments in Iran
Urges all communities to avoid actions that could lead to tension, unrest; In coordination with MEA, GOI to ensure well being of J&K Residents in Iran
Srinagar, March 01 (KNC): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday urged all communities to maintain calm and uphold peace in view of the unfolding developments in Iran, including reports regarding the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Expressing deep concern over the situation, in a post on X, office of J&K CM wrote, the Chief Minister appealed to people to avoid any actions that could lead to tension or unrest and emphasised the need for restraint and communal harmony.
He further stated that the Government of Jammu and Kashmir is in close coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, to ensure the safety and well-being of residents of J&K, including students currently in Iran.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the administration is closely monitoring the situation and remains committed to safeguarding the interests of J&K citizens. (KNC)
