A fresh spell of snowfall on Sunday morning brought back the much-missed winter charm to Srinagar, as shikaras on the iconic Dal Lake were seen coated in a gleaming layer of white snow, turning the lake into a picture-perfect winter postcard.

The serene sight of snow-covered shikaras resting on the calm waters, surrounded by white-laden landscapes, captivated residents and visitors alike.

The scene reflected the silent beauty of Kashmir’s winter, offering moments of peace and visual delight amid the cold breeze.

The breathtaking views were beautifully captured by photographer Zia Shakeel, whose lens brought to life the magical transformation of Srinagar under snow.

Locals, however, said that this season has witnessed comparatively less snowfall in Srinagar so far, raising concerns among farmers, tourism stakeholders, and winter sports enthusiasts.

Many believe that the reduced snowfall this year has impacted the traditional winter atmosphere the valley is known for.

Despite this, the recent snowfall has revived hopes, bringing smiles to faces and restoring the scenic appeal of the city.
Children were seen enjoying the snow, tourists clicked pictures along the lakefront, and shopkeepers welcomed the renewed tourist footfall.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has predicted another spell of snowfall between January 25 and January 27, advising residents and travelers to remain cautious, particularly in higher reaches and along vulnerable routes.

Authorities have also been directed to stay prepared for any weather-related contingencies.
As Srinagar embraces this renewed touch of winter, the snow-kissed shikaras continue to stand as a symbol of the valley’s timeless beauty — calm, charming, and unforgettable.
