Heavy Snowfall, Rain Forecast From Jan 22, Budgam Administration Issues Weather Advisory
Inhabitants Asked to Avoid Higher Reaches

Budgam, Jan 19, KNT: In view of the weather forecast issued by IMD Srinagar predicting heavy snow and rain at higher reaches and light snow and rain over the plains of Jammu and Kashmir from January 22, the district administration Budgam on Monday issued a detailed weather advisory, urging caution and preparedness.
According to the advisory issued by the Office of the Chairman DDMA and Deputy Commissioner Budgam, inhabitants of the district in general and those living in vulnerable areas and higher altitudes in particular have been advised to take all precautionary measures and refrain from venturing in and around slopes and higher reaches until weather conditions improve.
The administration has directed all line departments, including Revenue, Health, Police, SDRF, MED, PHE, R&B, PMGSY, KPDCL, FCS and CA, and Municipal bodies, to remain vigilant during the advisory period. Departments associated with snow clearance, essential services, and winter operations have been instructed to keep men and machinery available at designated locations.
The advisory further stated that concerned officers and staff shall remain available in their respective jurisdictions to ensure uninterrupted response during the period of adverse weather.
The District Emergency Operation Center Budgam and the Emergency Response Support System have been activated to respond to any exigency. The administration said the situation will be closely monitored and necessary measures will be taken to ensure safety and timely response during the anticipated wet spell. [KNT]
