Fire breaks out in Hari Parbat forest area near Makhdoom Sahib shrine

Srinagar, Jan 9, KNT: A fire broke out on Friday in the forest area of Hari Parbat, adjacent to the revered Makhdoom Sahib Shrine in Srinagar.
Officials said that the fire engulfed dry grass, dry bushes, and trees in the forest belt surrounding the hill. An in-charge at the site said the presence of highly flammable dry vegetation contributed to the spread of the fire.
Fire and emergency response teams rushed to the spot soon after receiving information and initiated efforts to bring the blaze under control. Officials said firefighting operations were carried out to prevent the fire from spreading further.
Authorities said the situation was being closely monitored and efforts were continuing to fully douse the fire. [KNT]
