Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Pays Glowing Tributes to Sheikh-ul-Alam (RA), To Deliver Special Sermon at Charar-e-Sharief Next Friday
Srinagar, Oct 17, KNT: Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr. Moulvi Mohammad Umar Farooq on Friday paid rich tributes to Sheikh-ul-Alam Hazrat Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani (RA), popularly known as Nund Rishi, on the occasion of his Urs, recalling the saint’s timeless message of Tawheed (oneness of Allah), compassion, simplicity, and service to humanity.
In his message, the Mirwaiz said that Sheikh-ul-Alam’s profound spiritual wisdom and poetic expression brought the Qur’anic teachings to the people in their own Kashmiri language, allowing the message of Islam to reach every household. He noted that the revered saint’s mission nurtured a society rooted in faith, humility, moral renewal, and mutual respect among communities.
“Hazrat Nund Rishi (RA) taught us that dignity stems not from lineage but from righteousness, and that true reformation begins with the purification of the self and is perfected through service to humanity,” Mirwaiz observed. He added that the saint’s immortal shrukh (verses) continue to illuminate Kashmiri hearts and homes, guiding people toward self-purification (islah-e-nafs) and God-consciousness.
Highlighting the enduring relevance of the saint’s teachings, Mirwaiz said that Sheikh-ul-Alam’s philosophy of unity, social justice, and moral integrity remains a guiding light for society even today. He stressed that in a world marked by conflict and materialism, returning to the saint’s message of compassion and harmony is essential for rebuilding moral and spiritual strength.
The Mirwaiz further announced that, Insha’Allah, he will deliver a special sermon at Charar-e-Sharief on Friday, October 24, where he will reflect on the universal dimensions of Sheikh-ul-Alam’s teachings and their continued significance in contemporary times.
He invited people from all walks of life to attend the sermon at the shrine of the revered saint to renew their spiritual bond and reaffirm the values of peace, humility, and unity taught by Sheikh-ul-Alam. [KNT]
