Srinagar, July 15, 2024 — (JKNN) The streets of Srinagar witnessed a massive Muharram procession today as thousands of Shia Muslims participated.
martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad. The procession, which is a significant event in the Islamic calendar, saw participants dressed in black, reciting elegies, and beating their chests in mourning.
The administration had given permissi on to take out the procession on traditional routes.
IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar Birdi who distributed water mourners told reporters that the procession is being taken out peacefully and mourners have been cooperating very well.
The procession began in the early morning hours and followed a designated route through the city, passing by key locations.
