Srinagar, Jan 12 (KNO): The Drugs and Food Control Department in Kashmir on Friday sealed three medical shops in Karan Nagar, Srinagar for allegedly failing to maintain proper records of psychotropic medicines.
As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the operation led by the officials of the department targeted establishments allegedly involved in the improper handling and documentation of psychotropic drugs, raising concerns about public health and safety.
Authorities discovered that the medical shops in question lacked the necessary records to track the distribution and sale of psychotropic medicines, substances known for their potential impact on mental health.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines, Deputy Director of Drugs and Food Control Department Kashmir, Nighat said maintaining accurate records is imperative to track the flow of psychotropic drugs and prevent their misuse.
“Our action against these medical shops underscores our commitment to upholding public health standards,” she said.
She added the seized records and inventory will undergo thorough scrutiny to determine the extent of the violations, and legal actions will be taken in accordance with relevant regulations—(KNO)
