Bandipora, Jul 25 (KNO): Three houses including six shops were destroyed while an elderly lady was injured in a massive fire in the remote Kudhara village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora on Tuesday.
An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the fire broke out from one of the houses and rapidly spread to the neighbouring structures, resulting in damage to three residential properties. However, the cause of the fire is not known yet.
“In the incident, properties worth lakhs of rupees were destroyed, and an 80-year-old lady identified as Noor Bagum was also injured,” he said, adding that the lady was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The official said three houses that were completely destroyed belonged to the brothers, Noor Hussain and Muneer Hussain, along with their uncle Mushtaq Ahmad Khan.
There was also a structure that housed six shops, all of which have been reduced to rubble, he said, adding that the shops included medical and veterinary stores, a food store, and a Kiryana store.
After visiting the location and assessing the extent of the damage, the district authorities offered assistance to the affected families. An immediate financial aid of Rs 10,000 was provided to each family along with three kitchen sets for their essential needs.
Thirty-five blankets were distributed to help them cope with the challenging situation, the official said—(KNO)
